Data Description
Dataset Naming Convention
Flux and Rate Mnemonic Naming Convention
The data files in the COHO archive are in ASCII text format with variable length formatted
records readable by this Fortran program. The
records of these datasets contain words with information on start time,
data quantities present, averaging interval, and ASCII
character data descriptions of the specific coincidence logic
condition which gives rise to the data quantity being presented.
If the Error value is -1.0, data for this item is not available. If
the Flux and Error are 0.0 no events occurred during the collection
time. The units of the data and error quantities are Particles/(cm2-sec-ster-MeV/n)
The format of the text data is generally as follows:
The CRS files in the COHO archive are
named according to the start time of the data contained in the
file (i.e. vy1crsxx.dat, where the xx represents the year of the data). Each
file1, except for 1977 (vy1crs77.dat vy2crs77.dat),
contains data from January 1 to December 31.
For Voyager-1 the 1977 data starts on September 7 and for Voyager-2 the 1977 data starts
on August 24.
1The Voyager-2 instruments underwent configuration changes in 1979 and 1982 resulting
in two data files for each of these years.
The following links for Voyager-1 and Voyager-2 describe our mnemonic naming convention for
the potential fluxes and rates present in our database if all data quantities were
present for the cruise lifetime. Lists of the exact data quantities we have included in the
archive data files can also be viewed through these links.
